Nebraska, the “Tree Planters State” forms a section of the eastern slope of the Great Plains, and has over 77,000 square miles of land. In the far west of the state is where the foothills of the Rocky Mountains begin. The climate is warm and temperate, which is a plus for a hunter. The surface of Nebraska ranges from smooth to rough, even mountainous, with seven well-defined major topographic subdivisions: the western tablelands and lowlands, the Pierre plains [formerly called the Bad Lands}, the sandhills, the northern tablelands, the loess plains and hills, the Platte River lowland and the Missouri River lowland.

The climate is warm-temperate, and is characterized by sudden changes common ton inland regions. The atmosphere is dry, and gentle winds prevail.
