Bobcat, is also called a wildcat and is a close relative of the Lynx. This small game animal is a carnivorous {meat-eating} mammal found from southern Canada throughout the United States south to Mexico. It is a true wildcat. They offer guided hunts and trips of several types depending on the location of the company you contact. The animal resembles the Canada lynx. The average bobcat stands about 14 inches {35 cm} at the shoulder, is about 3 feet {90 cm} long, including its 7-inch {17 cm} tail, and weighs about 22 pounds {10 kg}, but exceptionally large males have weighed up to 69 pounds {31 kg}. The female is smaller.

Bobcats are generally active at night. They are solitary, bold, silent stalkers of small game such as hares, mice, porcupines, snakes, rats, ground squirrels, and small birds. They occasionally prey upon deer, young lambs and goats, and poultry, and may make depredations upon poultry, turkey, and sheep ranches. But the chief source of food is the cottontail rabbit.

This small game has good eyesight and hearing; their sense of smell is of secondary importance. Bobcats utter a variety of sounds, from loud purrs to caterwauls.
