United States Weather

Georgia is famous for its warm climate and many locations to hunt game with over 58,000 square miles. From the coastal plain to the Appalachian Mountains to the Piedmont Plateau this state has much to offer a hunter. The Georgia hunting guides and outfitters listed should be able to help you plan your next trip.

The climate is derived from its location and the protection provided by its northern mountains give Georgia a moderate climate. During the long summers there is an occasional short, hot period; in winter the prevailing westerlies sometimes bring a brief cold wave. Yet even the mountain area reaches an average annual temperature of about 57 degrees. Though somewhat warmer, the central section also is mild. Along the coast and the Florida border, where the annual temperature averages 68 degrees, summers are so long that subtropical vegetation flourishes and winters are so mild that they are becoming a popular winter playground.

Bounded on the north by Tennessee and North Carolina, on the east by South Carolina and the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by Florida, and on the west by Alabama. Most of northern part of the state is a rugged, mountainous area crossed from northeast to southwest by two Appalachian ranges; The Blue Ridge Mountains on the east and the Cohuttas on the west. The middle section, the Piedmont Plateau, covers nearly a third of the state. Broken up by river valleys or by steep rocky hills called Monadnocks. The largest section of Georgia, is separated from the plateau area by the Fall Line and breaks into a series of 5 terraces as it descends eastward from there to the Atlantic. Yes this state does have much to offer a hunter on his trip.

Each guide and outfitter can give you additional information about specific small game and big game animals hunting in their area, along with what the weather is for their part of the state.
