United States Weather

Pennsylvania is called the “Keystone State”. This vast woodland state has much to offer sportsmen of all kinds. With over 45,000 square miles of land, a hunter should have no problem. The state has a temperate climate and should be enjoyable for most activities. The Pennsylvania hunting guides and outfitters listed should be able to help you plan your next trip.

Bounded on the east by New York and New Jersey, on the south by Delaware, Maryland, and West Virginia, on the west by Lake Erie and Ohio. Pennsylvania is divided into three major topographical regions; the Northern Piedmont, the Appalachian Highlands, and the Allegheny Plateau. The minor regions are the narrow; level coastal plain, on which Philadelphia and its suburbs are located, and the low belt of rich land surrounding the rim of Lake Erie.

Generally temperate, the climate of Pennsylvania is more rigorous in the west than in the east, where the ocean moderates temperatures. Winters are severe in the mountains, but summers are pleasantly cool. The mean annual temperature in the southeast is about 52 degrees; in the central part of the state about 50 degrees; and in the northwest about 47 degrees. The state offers much to a hunter and should be taken advantage of on your next trip.

Each guide and outfitter can give you additional information about specific small game and big game animals hunting in their area, along with what the weather is for their part of the state.
