Yukon, Canada is in the northwestern corner of the country, and is bounded on the west and southwest by Alaska, on the east by the Northwest Territory, on the south by British Columbia, and on the north by the Beaufort Sea and the Arctic Ocean. It has a total area of over 200,000 square miles, of which more than 1,700 square miles are water. The Yukon is an elevated plateau crossed by high mountain ranges and cut by many streams and rivers. The Rockies, the Mackenzie Mountains to the east, and the St. Elias range, including Mount Logan {19,850 feet” in the southwest corner of the province, make the region a rugged wilderness.
