Arkansas is warm in summer, with an average temperature of about 80 degrees. The heat is greatest in the lowlands; the mountain country makes an attractive summer vacation because temperatures there are moderate. Rainfall varies between 40 to 55 inches a year. Snow falls in the mountains in winter, but the average for the state is only about 5.6 inches a year.
