The climate is relatively mild and pleasant. The state has mountains, valleys, and heavy woodland areas, which offer the hunter a wide choice of hunting areas. Virginia is bounded on the south by North Carolina and Tennessee. On the east and northeast it is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Woodlands cover almost three fifths of the state; most of the mountain region is forested.

Virginia has a relatively mild and pleasant climate, with adequate rainfall. In the southeast, temperatures average 42 degrees in January and 78 degrees in July. In the upper Piedmont and the mountain regions the average temperature for the three coldest months is about 32 degrees. Rainfall varies between forty and fifty inches a year. The state offers much to a hunter and should be taken advantage of on your next trip.
